New Cages for the Crew

IMG_1718
Readers!  It's always exciting when we change up or add something new to the farm life around here. The most recent change happens to be new cages and feeders for the meat rabbits.  The new cages are a different set-up for us in that they hang from the ceiling of the barn rather than sit on wooden framework like the last ones.  It is an unbelievably cleaner arrangement for all involved.  And we bought bigger cages so they have more room which will be great when the are having babies.

We didn't get around to installing the new feeders and hay racks until last weekend.  We've had a busy month and that didn't take priority until now.  The new feeders and hay racks actually get attached to the outside of the cage so that there is some ease at feeding time and each door doesn't have to be opened and closed.  When you have ten cages with ten doors, that process gets a bit old quite fast.  So, finally having time to put in the new equipment is a wonderful thing.

IMG_4585Here is one of our old-timer mamas, a sweet girl, munching on food and hay.  It was amazing at feeding time the first morning after they were installed.  What a stream-lined process it ended up being!  It made everything go that much faster.

Do you have rabbits?  What system to you have in place to help you get all their basic needs met.

I pray things are going well in your part of God's country....

In Christ,
Pam
