Readers! It's always exciting when we change up or add something new to the farm life around here. The most recent change happens to be new cages and feeders for the meat rabbits. The new cages are a different set-up for us in that they hang from the ceiling of the barn rather than sit on wooden framework like the last ones. It is an unbelievably cleaner arrangement for Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-33756559320882749762014-09-23T10:00:00.000-05:002016-08-31T17:33:53.148-05:00Aloe Vera Adventure
We have a place near the garage that has a cluster of aloe vera plants. The area has been riddled with weeds and it really has been a bone of contention for Johnny. He decided to tackle the area over the weekend. He pulled aloe vera plants out of a very small section of dirt. You can see here, the "circle" in front of my feet. It's not Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-60210590060888017932014-09-02T09:56:00.000-05:002016-08-31T17:18:58.177-05:00In The Wind
I heard the sound of jingling outside.....the house is so quiet (no TV allowed). So I heard things that normally would disappear into the world. Today I heard jingling.....I looked outside and watched the sweet wind chime Caleb gave me, moving in the wind.....God Bless Our Home, it says at the top. The swaying caused the metal pieces to bump each other, and jingle. What a reminder Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-84441308902771759822014-08-19T11:32:00.000-05:002016-08-31T11:44:59.798-05:00This Week on the Ranch
Lots's of things happened on the ranch this week. I thought I would combine them all into one post in order to save a little time and actually get a blog post written. :)
Of course, it's that time of year again, and I have been in school planning mode. So that means, looking over the teacher manual, cutting, laminating, cutting again, copying, printing, and basically gettingPamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-88692254236893791222014-07-29T11:30:00.000-05:002016-08-31T11:36:35.663-05:00Swim Time
When you take kids to the pool, what do you expect? Naptime? Not usually. But, sweet Chevy fell asleep in the car literally five minutes before we went into the Odem Pool. So today, nap time was at the pool.
As always, the lily pads are their favorite place to play first.
And Mr. Chev finally woke up and cooled off in the pool. Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-81463251647821106812014-06-20T11:56:00.000-05:002016-08-31T11:56:47.510-05:00The Big "9"
It was birthday time again. It seems they just keep coming faster and faster. His first celebration choice was to go to Pizza Hut. I can't tell you the last time we went there for a sit down meal. But, it was birthday boy's choice after all. The waitress even gave him a serving of apple pie pockets and the whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday to him. Today seems like the perfect day to write this tribute to Steph. It has been six months today already, since we lost her. I say lost because that's how it feels. To lose something is to no longer have it in your possession and we don't have her with us anymore. She is in a better place. Those words are so contrite, but they are real and true. She is in Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-44647125723424103942014-04-21T11:47:00.000-05:002016-08-31T11:49:42.475-05:00A Little Bit of Hope
Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24
What is Hope?
According to dictionary.com, "hope" is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.
As Christians, we are to put our hope in our Lord. It is something that develops over time as we grow in our Christian walk. It is nurtured as we Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-86234460564938031082013-11-11T18:06:00.000-06:002013-11-26T18:07:01.331-06:00Veterans Day and Warriors on Wheels
Last year the Warriors on Wheels came through Sinton, Texas and we learned about it nearly at the last minute. Our church provided some food items for them to eat as they passed on through town. This year, we played a bigger role in that our church was a sponsor, along with others, including HEB. We opened up our church as the place for them to stop and eat.

Randy just loves drama. Well, the theatrical sort. Here is a costume he made for homecoming week at school.
Here he is playing William Shakespeare for the lead role in a play at school. I paid an extra $10 for a table near the stage. What I did not know, was that we were to be placed at the table that Randy was acting at. It took me a few minutes to realize Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-64310414332844508562013-09-26T16:04:00.000-05:002013-11-26T16:04:27.190-06:00Fun with Silly GlassesEvery body has to have some fun with silly glasses.....
Okay. So, we weren't there shopping for silly glasses. We were shopping for birthday party stuff for Master Chevy's 1st birthday party. We just had some fun along the way.
And on another day, the silly glasses saga continued....
This just goes to show we can and do have fun anywhere we go....Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-60117826733789047232013-09-26T16:00:00.000-05:002013-10-04T10:53:18.204-05:00Aquarium Day
I'll give you a warning from the get-go. This post is very picture heavy. Sissy wanted to go to the Texas State Aquarium and we had not been there in a long time. So, it sorta felt like the first time, if that can even be possible. And we certainly acted like it. We spent FOUR hours there! I've never been at the aquarium, WITH CALEB, for four hours. We Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-64161956511513174322013-08-04T18:30:00.000-05:002013-10-04T10:14:17.356-05:00A Great Day in the LordHow does one choose the right words to describe what was probably the most important day in their child's life? Well, it's nearly impossible. January 15, 2013, Caleb Lynn Parker accepted the Lord. It was just another school day when the beauty of his decision unfolded before us. It was a grand moment and I will treasure that forever in my heart.

How time flies and gets away from us. But, an 8 yr olds birthday party is something that should not be left un-posted.
It is hard to believe that 8 years have already flown by and our little man turned the big 8. He was pretty excited about his birthday this year. Easter was at the Parker's this year and I did my best to take some photo's of the kids having a great time. Not always easy as they were constantly on the move. They really seemed to enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt and the Confetti Eggs, but I think they honestly just had a good time being with each other for a few hours.
It really meant a lot to me to have everyone here. &Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-65846021094533872352013-03-27T09:17:00.000-05:002013-04-23T09:44:39.203-05:00Sp - Egg - tacular Fun!
Decorating eggs around Easter time has been a tradition in my house for as long as I can remember. Since it is something Sissy enjoys doing also, she has continued that tradition with us even though she has her own home now. I think Caleb looks forward to decorating eggs with her every year. Guth Park can be a fun place to go to feed the ducks and geese. I can't say that I've ever gone when there has been SO many winged creatures in want of the bread we brought. It was cool, yet somewhat intimidating when the honking geese would swarm around you from both sides.
I don't know what kind of ducks these are, but I sure thought they were pretty. And there Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-73364854434655687122013-02-25T15:44:00.004-06:002013-02-25T15:44:58.167-06:00"Miracle"
"Miracle"
I decided to put this post here since this event happened on a school. It's incredible what a couple of weeks can do. The first picture is just a day or two after birth. We tried to wrap his back legs to offer support, but the wrap just didn't help. You can see how the back, left hind foot is folded-over. A lifestyle change involving healthier eating and more exercise. Okay, so this time of year many people are proclaiming their new years resolutions. How many people actually stick to them? I sure don't know the statistics, but it's probably very few. I was most definitely one of those folks. Off with the training wheels!!
Caleb pulled his bike out and dusted it off a while back. He's never really showed much interest in riding it. But, suddenly, it was fun and he was riding it all the time. Today was a rather eventful day. What started out as a soon-to-be-momma-heifer in labor, turned into a rather wild event. Red momma-to-be decided to have her baby on the worst, rainy day we've had in a long time. Normally, that would have been okay, but after hours and hours of labor without progression things were beginning to get quite worrisome. John was at work with Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14575644647792116290noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786211759886995332.post-44156425902789786672013-02-06T10:00:00.000-06:002013-02-14T21:50:27.744-06:00Adding Water = FunHello Folks!
I know. It's been a long time since you've seen a new post here in Our Place in Papalote. I'm sorry about that. Life in general has been throwing some curve balls. Lots of illness in the family. None super serious, but stomach bugs, upper respiratory infections, and a case of walking pneumonia were a few we've been dealing with.

What a surprise to see this little fella in the pasture as we were leaving for church this morning. For about ten seconds I thought Lulu (baby white donkey) had rolled in the mud. Ha! Nope. New arrival, named "Shadow" once his gender was confirmed.
Isn't he the cutest little thing? I thought Lulu was cute, but this guy has such grand markings.

Soccer season is over and the Parkers can breath just a little bit again. Seems like such a long haul sometimes getting from one sports season to the next. But, keeping kids active is also important as well. Here are some pictures from the final soccer game of the season, where the Rattlers won 2-1.
